Technology

Technology has played a very significant role in our lives. We can’t imagine life without modern means of transportation and communication, without up- to- date mass media, or without sophisticated medical equipment. However technology has left its negative effect on humanity in the form of weapons, pollution and processed food.
Technology has been excessively used to invent new weapons. Although modern technology is supposed to serve humanity, large sums of money are spent every day on the development of weapons that can destroy and kill people on a very large scale. Such sums of money would benefit the world a great deal if they were used in developing other aspects of life. In fact, we feel shame just to think that in this age of progress, there are millions of people starving to death in different parts of the world.
Moreover, modern technology has led to the pollution of the environment, and consequently caused serious diseases to people, animals and plants. The poisonous smoke of factories and of various kinds of vehicles, chemical garbage and nuclear radiation, along with the discharges of industries and sewage systems, have increasingly brought disasters to life on this planet.
Finally, technology has been harmfully used in people’s nutrition. Different kinds of unhealthy processed food are widely used by people. It seems that clean natural food is hardly available now a day because chemicals and preservatives are used in the preparation of canned meat, vegetables, fruit and even babies food.
In conclusion, technology may be a blessing if it is used for the profit of societies and a curse if it becomes a means for damage and destruction. Therefore, governments, scientists and organizations, all over the world, have to face this challenge and put an end to the destructive use of technology.
