Trees

Needless to say, Lebanon has always been well-known for its important wealth of fruitful trees and woods. Such national wealth is seriously threatened to decline unless necessary precautions are taken immediately.
In addition to the fruitful trees which support the national economy, woods offer important benefits to the country as a whole. First of all, trees turn the country into a sort of paradise, which encourages tourism that provides us with an important source of income. Second, they help to keep the climate moderate and refreshing, which in turn contributes to the good health of old and young, present and future generations. Finally trees protect the soil against being washed away by floods or rain.
To protect this great blessing, the authorities and the national organizations along with the people have to take immediate action. Using trees in making coal and logging industry, though important, should be organized and controlled. Furthermore, serious steps should be taken to stop the creeping of those ugly, unorganized building that spring up here and there replacing the beautiful ever green trees, and to control the increase in the number of crushing plants that are destroying our most wonderful mountains. In addition, people cultivate a keen sense of responsibility and stop throwing carelessly whatever may cause wood fires.
To conclude, trees in Lebanon are in great danger if immediate measures aren’t carried out to preserve this national wealth. Large campaigns must be initiated in order to encourage tree planting and to generate a sense of responsibility for the environment and landscape among all people.
